Tableware
All of the work seen here is utilitarian in nature. Every item is made to be touched, used, and enjoyed. I take into consideration how each piece will be held, how it feels to hold it, the weight of the piece, and where the rim touches the user’s lips. Using a functional piece of pottery is an intimate experience so I strive to create the best experience possible. I tend to create simple forms that highlight the way the glazes interact with each other. To me, there’s something magical that happens when glazes come together. In the end, my biggest hope is that comfort is brought to those who use my work in their day to day activities. When someone reaches for their favorite mug or bowl, I would like for their hand to be reaching for something that I put my all into.
I love pizza
My love for pizza knows no bounds! It is perhaps one of my most frequently enjoyed foods. The crunch of the crust, the stretch of the cheese, and the countless topping combinations; I could literally never get tired of pizza. I have even had “pizza enthusiast” written in my personal Instagram bio for years at this point. This sculpture of a single slice of pepperoni pizza pays homage to this beautiful and versatile food item.
